Legendary Queen guitarist Brian May is putting the finishing touches on a handful of duets Michael Jackson recorded with Freddie Mercury in 1983, according to Queen’s drummer. In an interview with Classic Rock magazine, Roger Taylor said May has been prepping the long-shelved duets after coming to an agreement with Jackson’s estate on how to release the tracks.
“Brian especially has been active working on old tracks. A couple of tracks that Freddie did with Michael Jackson,” Taylor said. “They’ve been hanging around for years and years and Michael’s estate haven’t really been able to make their mind up about what to do with them. So we suggested we finish them and see. They’re pretty good – one of them is great.”
These aren’t the only new MJ tracks we could hear in the near future. Timbaland in August revealed he is working on a posthumous Michael Jackson album featuring unreleased MJ vocals. Timbo promised to have it done “by this year.”
